Co-Founder & Special Advisor

 

Mr. Dhruba Gupta is a Co-Founder and Senior Advisor at EM Capital Management, LLC.  Previously, he was Co- Portfolio Manager with Seth R. Freeman of the EM Capital India Gateway Fund, SEC registered 40-Act India-focused mutual fund.  

 

Prior to co-founding EM Capital Management, he served as Senior Advisor to the Chairman of India’s IFCI Bank and assisted in the organization of Asset Care Enterprises, one of India's first distressed asset reconstruction entities authorised under the Securities Act.  During this time, he also served as Adviser of Corporate Affairs of IFCI Limited.

 

Mr. Gupta was Deputy Treasurer at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the last seven years of his 29-year IMF career.

He has served as a member of numerous advisory boards and councils in India including the ASSOCHAM Expert Committee on Company Law & Corporate Affairs. Mr. Gupta is a recognized expert in Indian infrastructure policy, banking industry, government commercial policy and corporate governance.  He is a Consultant to OECD.  Mr. Gupta is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics and a Master of Economics from George Washington University.
