DR. LINCOLN Y. RATHNAM, CFA

Senior Managing Director & Special Advisor

 

Lincoln Yesu Rathnam, Ph.D., CFA, is a Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Investment Management at EM Capital Management, LLC.  He is an expert in cross-border business, investments and financial analysis and negotiation, including high-yield, distressed and under-performing debt.

 

Prior to EM Capital Management, Dr. Rathnam served as Managing Director at BCP Securities Asia Pte Ltd and BCP Securities LLC, responsible for building its Singapore office serving Asia.

 

From 1996 to 1998, he served as President and Chairman of Schooner Asset Management Co. LLC, a company which he founded.

 

Prior to founding Schooner, he was a Managing Director at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Inc. which he joined as an Equity Analyst in 1984.  He served in senior positions such as Managing Director at Scudder, Stevens & Clark where he founded and managed the firm's high yield bond and private equity departments and also built Scudder's emerging markets fixed income assets under management to approximately US$1.7 billion by the end of 1995.

 

Prior to Scudder, he was a Managing Director at CIGNA Investment Management.  Dr. Rathnam established Scudder's Latin American Trust for Independent Power in 1994.  His focus on Emerging Markets began in 1988 when he founded Scudder's Emerging Markets Fixed Income Group, which he led to pre-eminence, building over $US 1.0 billion assets under management.

 

Lincoln began his Investment Career in 1979 as an Analyst at Connecticut General Investment Management Company, where he followed a variety of Industries and worked in both the Equity and Bond Departments. He has been a Member of Advisory Board at Functional Technologies Corp., since October 2012.

 

He served as Director at Boston Securities Analysts Society. He served as a Director of Cal Bank Limited until November 9, 2006.

He is an author of numerous published articles on investing including his regular contributions in Euromoney magazine.  

 

Lincoln is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder.   He holds a FINRA Series 7 license.

 

Dr. Rathnam received a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Oxford University in 1976 and a B.A. (Phi Beta Kappa) from Dartmouth College in 1971.
